May the Fourth has gifted us with some news that’s out of this galaxy!

Fans of the force’s are rejoicing across the world because of international Star Wars day, and with the added news of a new game for the franchise the hyperspace hype doesn’t seem like it’ll be slowing down any time soon.

Today, Patrick Söderlund, the Executive Vice President of Electronic Arts Studios, made a post on the official EA website revealing the galactic news.

“At EA right now, we have multiple studios building a variety of great Star Wars games spanning different genres. We are all united by our teams’ passion for Star Wars™ stories, characters, and adventures.

Today, I’m thrilled to be able to announce that EA and the talented team at Respawn Entertainment have expanded our relationship to include the development of an all-new 3rd person action adventure game set in the Star Wars universe. They join our other great studios – Visceral Games, DICE, Capital Games, BioWare, Motive and more – who are currently working on Star Wars projects. If you’re interested in joining us on this adventure, you can visit our Careers page – we have openings at Visceral and Motive and will be sharing more on these experiences soon.” -Patrick Söderlund

We don’t have any more information other than the blog post, but we do have know a bit about EA’s new partner. Respawn Entertainment, the team working on the newly announced third person Star Wars game, is well known for developing the Titanfall series.

Hopefully the game won’t be confined to the mecha theme of their previous games, because I really don’t wanna be forced to play as Yoda or General Grievous piloting a giant robot – actually wait that’d be kinda cool. Considering the polarizing, hit and miss history of Star Wars games there isn’t much of a set standard for this new game to live up to. At least we know that it can’t be any worse than Kinect Star Wars, dancing with Han Solo is way less cool that it sounds.
