In the midst of all of the hype for tomorrow’s Pokémon Direct, celebrating 20 years of Pokémon, Nintendo registered trademarks for what could possibly be the next iteration of the series!
The two trademarks Nintendo registered on the European Market are titled “PoKéMoN Moon” and “PoKéMoN SUN“. Nothing is known other than the names of these potential games, but many believe that more information will be revealed at the Pokémon Direct.
Yesterday when I saw Nintendo’s tweet about the direct being around 5 minutes in length, I was under the impression that they were going to try to cover the games they’ve spoken about recently like Pokémon GO, Pokken Tournament, or even Pokémon Z. After hearing about Pokémon Moon and Pokémon Sun I’m betting that Nintendo will use most of their time on that and worry about the other releases later.
Stay tuned, because I’ll be following this story and posting more about it if there are any more updates to the situation. With the Pokémon Direct happening tomorrow at 7am, there will probably be some new info soon.
EDIT (Feb 26, 2016): Pokémon Moon and Pokémon Sun have been confirmed! Nintendo says the much anticipated games are going to be for the 3DS family and have a release date of Holiday 2016. I’m just hoping they aren’t going to make Moon and Sun New 3DS exclusives.
